Planning a great honeymoon is about spending time together and creating special memories. Western North Carolina offers honeymooners lots of opportunities to do just that! The area is filled with attractions and activities that are truly special. Book your stay at our romantic Waynesville, NC bed and breakfast, then read on for our top three ideas for anyone planning a memorable Western North Carolina honeymoon.
Spend a Day at the Biltmore
Honeymooners can catch a glimpse of how the wealthiest Americans lived when they visit America’s Largest Private Home. The elaborately decorated mansion was built by George Vanderbilt at the end of the 19th century. It boasts 250 rooms and over 175,000 square feet of space. Be sure to plan ahead – you must purchase tickets in advance to visit the estate. If this is your first visit, we recommend spending the better part of a day on the property.
Top Tips for making it honeymoon-special: Upgrade to the Guided Small Group Tour or the Rooftop Tour. Plan a wine tasting at the Biltmore Winery, or for a decadent treat, indulge your sweet tooth with the Red Wine and Chocolate Tasting. If the weather is pleasant, meander through the beautiful gardens and trails, including the stunning rose garden and conservatory. Enjoy a memorable meal at The Stable Cafe or enjoy more casual dining at Cedric’s Tavern.
Cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway
Couples can experience stunning views on the world-famous Blue Ridge Parkway, a 469-mile national parkway that traverses the spine of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Western North Carolina hosts the southernmost section of this historic roadway, featuring some of the Parkway’s highest peaks and trails. As there is so much to see, we recommend spending at least half a day exploring the Parkway during your North Carolina honeymoon.
Top Tips for making it honeymoon-special: Bring along one of our picnic lunches to enjoy at any of the scenic overlooks along the way. Plan a hike on one of the many secluded trails along the Parkway. Visit highlights like Devil’s Courthouse and Waterrock Knob. Time your drive to enjoy sunset at one of the many stunning West-facing overlooks. (Cowee Mountains Overlook at mile 430 is our personal favorite!) Notes: The nearest Parkway entrance is about 10 minutes from The Yellow House. Only head up to the Parkway if the weather is clear.
Treat Yourselves to Something Special
There are many wonderful ways to pamper and unwind after your wedding. Be sure to set some time aside to slow down, rest and relax.
Top Tips for making it honeymoon-special: Enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience with a romantic Creekside Couples Massage at Maggie Valley Wellness. Enjoy the deconstructed lasagna at Chef’s Table, the flatbread of the day at Frog’s Leap Public House, or the legendary crab cakes at The Sweet Onion. Check out Bosu’s Wine Bar or the Classic Wine Seller, or enjoy a massive pretzel and brew at Boojum’s or Frog Level Brewing. Or just relax in front of your fireplace with a bottle from our expertly-curated wine list.
